Infantino’s initiative was motivated by the episode of racism directed at Milan goalkeeper Maignan. The clash against Udinese was interrupted due to racist insults directed at the French player, leading the athletes to leave the field for a few minutes. The statement emphasized the need to impose automatic defeats on teams whose fans practiced racism, causing the match to be abandoned. Furthermore, he proposed global stadium bans and criminal charges for those responsible for racist acts.
