Trump seeks ‘absolute immunity’ for US president

Date:

Last Thursday(18), Donald Trump stated that the president should have “total immunity” against criminal prosecution, including if his actions cross the “red line”.

++ Kamala Harris says everyone should be ‘scared’ about Donald Trump’s possible second term

Trump used social media to argue that, as president, he had total immunity from prosecution and asked the supreme court to rule in his favor.

++ Biden claims he is still ‘the only person who has ever defeated Donald Trump’

“EVEN FACTS THAT ‘CROSS THE LINE’ MUST BE UNDER TOTAL IMMUNITY, OR IT WILL BE YEARS OF TRAUMA TRYING TO DETERMINE GOOD AND EVIL,” Trump said on his Truth Social network, maintaining his style of writing in capital letters.

Trump has proposed that US presidents should have immunity from making difficult decisions. The Republican leader compared this need to that of security professionals, who continue to work despite the occasional presence of “rogue elements.” In his words, Trump stated that, in some situations, it is necessary to deal with a leader who is “excellent but slightly imperfect.” In his view, the Supreme Court, which has tilted to the right since its three appointments during his term, will make an uncomplicated decision if called upon to rule on the case. It’s important to note that the Republican president faces 91 criminal charges, including allegations of attempting to manipulate the 2020 election results.
