Last Sunday (20), in an interview with Sporza magazine, after participating in the fourth stage of the Cyclocross World Cup, held in France, Thibau Nys commented on speculation that the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) would introduce new strict rules in light of the presence of cyclists in other matches in the category.
In response to the information released by David Lappartiente, president of the UCI, the cyclist stated that the possibility of implementing stricter rules on competitions is not good and that the matches should be the choices of the athletes who will participate.

“I simply don’t have World Cup qualification in mind. The result is you choosing match by match. I think I should be able to plan my own program. Everyone has the right to this. I’m not worried about that. They just break their own windows. If necessary, I will not start the World Cup,” Thibau Nys told Sporza.
Previously, the president of the Union Internationale Cycliste (UCI), David Lappartient, was dissatisfied with the absence of some athletes from participating in the Cyclocross World Cup phases and with the choice to be in other competitions during the category’s World Championship period.
The institution’s president’s speech caused discomfort among several professionals in the category, including the UCI’s sporting director, Peter Van den Abeele, who in an interview with the Sporza website, explained that the solution is not as good as imagined and stated that attitudes such as by Thibau Nys may seem like a joke to competitions that are extremely important in cycling.
