Last Tuesday (23), through social media and official websites, the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that it will suspend Tristan Thompson for 25 games for violating the anti-drug program of the league and the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA ). The measure also reflects the suspension of the athlete’s salary.

According to reports, the player had tested positive for the substances Ibutamoren, classified as a growth hormone, and Ligandrol LGD-4033, used for muscle strengthening. Both are present in the NBA’s regulations on doping, as well as by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the NCAA.

His current team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, published a statement on social media saying they agree with the measure adopted by the NBA: “We fully support the NBA/NBAPA Anti-Drug Program and are disappointed with the recent news about Tristan Thompson. His time away from the game will have an impact on our team. We stand by Tristan and offer our support during this period of suspension.”
When contacted by the press, Tristan Thompson did not respond about the measure applied that will come into effect this Wednesday (24). Currently, the player has taken actions that do not benefit his conduct, given that he was expelled from the courts in one of the matches for the Paris Olympics.
Tristan Thompson played for one year at the University of Texas and then entered the 2011 National Basketball Association (NBA) draft with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He then played for the Boston Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.
