Stones was forced off the field in the 43th minute of City’s 3-1 win over Everton on Wednesday (27). The defender hurt his ankle, when he slid in to block Everton striker Beto, who was offside, but the flag hadn’t been raised.

After the game, Guardiola was asked about how bad the injury was. “It doesn’t look good, but we will see. It’s his ankle”, he told Amazon Prime. “Hopefully the damage isn’t big and he can come back soon”, he added.

Stones has been plagued by injuries throughout this season. He missed 12 games after contracting a hip problem during pre-season. In the 2022/23 season, he missed two months of action due to a hamstring injury. The defender has never played more than 27 Premier League games for the team in a single campaign, despite being at the club for almost eight years.
