Barack Obama chooses ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘The Holdovers’ among his favorite films of 2023

Former President of the United States Barack Obama published his traditional year-end list on Wednesday (27) with his favorite books and films.

The 2023 selection, which includes ‘Rustin’, ‘Leave the World Behind’ and ‘Jon Batiste: American Symphony’, was announced on its social networks.

With this, Obama also highlighted that the trio is made up of productions by Higher Ground, his own company. Therefore, he also put together a separate list of features with Oppenheimer, Anatomy of a Fall and Past Lives as his other favorites of the year.

“Earlier this year, writers and actors went on strike to defend better working conditions and protections,” wrote the former president in a publication about cinema. “This has led to important changes that will transform the industry for the better. Here are some films that reflect your hard work throughout the year,” Obama said in his post.
