The information was given by Jets head coach, Robert Saleh. He explained that Rodgers will be eased back into training and limited to non-contact, and said that there was “no added risk” to the player stepping up his rehabilitation programme.

“There’s certain things that he’s been cleared for that we are going to allow him to do. Aaron is not going to do anything to put himself in harm’s way. This isn’t so much getting ready to play as much as it is a progression in his rehab”, said Saleh. According to the rules, the Jets have 21 days to decide whether to officially activate Rodgers, or whether he won’t play again until 2024. If he is not activated within this three-week period, he will miss the rest of the season.

Rodgers ruptured his left Achilles tendon early in the first-round game against the Buffalo Bills on September 11, when he was making his debut for the team. The quarterback spent his entire NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, winning Super Bowl 45 in 2011, before moving to the Jets in April.
