Last Friday (24), through social networks and official websites, Jumbo-Visma announced that next year its name will change due to the departure of one of its sponsors. Now, the team will have a new name and will be recognized as Team Visma-Lease a Bike.

The name change was due to the termination of the contract with the former sponsor, the Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo. The news that the union was close to being finalized had been circulating since the end of last year and until then, the team was racing against time to find a replacement.

“We are pleased to confirm our new partnership agreements with Visma and Lease a Bike, two strong international companies with whom we already enjoy an excellent relationship. These evolving partnerships are another big step forward, ensuring we have the resources to further develop and improve as a team,” said Richard Plugge, owner of Team Visma-Lease a Bike.
Lease a Bike, the new company that will be part of the team, is part of one of the largest business groups in the Netherlands called the Pon Holding Group and recognized for having a revenue of over 7.5 billion euros. The company also has around 12 thousand employees distributed across 36 countries.
In the new agreement, the company accepted and agreed to increase sponsorship of the union, which will now be equivalent to 12 million euros. With the modification, there are signs that Team Visma-Lease a Bike will establish an innovation in its colors, uniforms, clothes and accessories, however, confirmation will only be made in December.
