Luis Manuel Díaz, father of Luis Díaz, was released this Thursday, after being kidnapped on October 28, in Colombia.
According to the country’s press, he was rescued in Valledupar, after negotiations between Colombian authorities and the National Liberation Army (ELN), responsible for the kidnapping.
With that, in his first public appearance after his release, Mane Diaz thanked the support he received from Colombians during his personal drama.
“Firstly I want to thank God for this second opportunity to bring me back home. I want to thank the people of Barrancas, La Guajira and Colombia for the great support they brought to our family. Thank you, I love you and soon I will have the opportunity to greet them and hug them. Thank you very much, thank you very much.

Luis Manuel’s rescue took longer than expected, as last Friday the ELN had promised to release him, on the condition that the Colombian army withdraw from an area in which they had carried out a sweep.
Luis Díaz even traveled to Colombia and returned to England last week even though his father was still kidnapped.
The striker scored Liverpool’s equalizer against Luton Town, 1-1, in a Premier League game last Sunday, and displayed a shirt with the message “freedom for dad”, a request he reiterated on social media.
