President of Israel refutes Angelina Jolie’s accusations

Date:

Angelina Jolie’s statements about Israel’s actions in the conflict with Hamas did not find support among the country’s leaders. President Isaac Herzog disapproved of the actress’s remarks, claiming that she did not consider the “right of defense.”

Jolie, also recognized for her activism and her past working with the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), accused Israel of deliberately attacking children, women and families in recent weeks. The conflict began on October 7 and, according to official data from Palestine and Israel, has already resulted in the deaths of more than 10,000 people.

Jolie also cited alleged violations of international law by the government of Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming they had denied access to water, food and other essential services to the Palestinian people.

In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan, the president disqualified the actress’s statements, arguing that she never visited the territories involved in the conflict. He stated: “I believe she was never in Gaza, never here. She never came to check the facts.” The politician highlighted that people in Gaza are aware of the existence of a conflict, but denied that there is a humanitarian crisis that prevents the survival of the population. He emphasized the existence of a safe space in southern Gaza, the result of an agreement between Israel and the international community, where civilians can be evacuated and receive assistance. Herzog also highlighted the possibility of removing children and women from the bombed areas, concluding: “People from Gaza can move there so we can put an end to this regime of terror. That’s what we know. Angelina Jolie didn’t consider the right to defense of the Israelis in making these statements.”
