According to the Russian government, Putin conducted telephone conversations with at least five Middle Eastern leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The discussion focused on the crisis situation resulting from the serious escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict,” a statement said. Russian state media reported that the main focus of Putin’s calls to Middle Eastern leaders was to offer humanitarian aid and coordinate a deal to end the conflict as quickly as possible.
In addition to the leaders of Israel and Palestine, Putin spoke with the heads of state of Egypt, Syria and Iran. With the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, a crucial topic was discussed.
