After more than 70 years of career, Michael Caine may have said goodbye to The Movies. The actor stated in a recent interview with The Telegraph that he is now “sort of retired” after completing filming on The Great Escaper, his most recent work.

“I’m 90 years old now, and I can’t walk properly and everything. Anyway, I’m sort of retired now.”
With a career spanning over 70 years, Caine’s filmography includes major works in films such as ‘Dressed to Kill’, ‘Hannah and Her Sisters’ (in which he won the Oscar for best supporting actor) and the ‘Batman trilogy’ in which he starred as the butler Alfredo

In his last work, the Oscar winner also stated that he needed the help of a cane to play Bernard Jordan, a World War II veteran whose escape from an asylum to see a 70th anniversary commemoration of D-Day in France inspired The Great Escaper . “I did the scenes once and then I fell over. It was just one take and then it was over. That was [what could be done].”
The actor, however, reflected on his life and career fondly: “I had the best possible life I could imagine.”
