After hundreds of criticisms about the lack of representation of the event, the measure adopted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences aims to expand diversity and inclusion among its members and, now, guests are divided into 40% women, 34% representatives from underrepresented ethnic and racial communities and 52% from 51 countries and territories outside the United States.

“The Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals as members. They represent an extraordinary global talent across all film disciplines and have had a vital impact on film arts and sciences and on film fans around the world.”

Taylor Swift has already been nominated twice, in 2022, in the category of “Original Music” with the song “Carolina” and for her production “All Too Well: The Short Film”, starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. However, the video, which has been viewed over 80 million times on YouTube, failed to win the categories.
