Drake sued for copyright infringement

Last Friday (20), Drake was sued by the Federal Court of Manhattan in the amount of US$ 10 million and accused of copyright infringement for having used excerpts of songs by the artist Obrafour, in his album “Honestly, Nevermind”, released last year.

According to the report released by Billboard, the song “Calling My Name” has the phrase “Killer cut, blood, killer cut” which is used in Obrafour’s track, named “Oye Ohene” from 2018. Previously, Drake had used excerpts from other works by the same singer in the song “One Dance” and that there is evidence of these facts that could be harmful to the rapper in the judgment.

The lawsuit against the rapper “seeks at least $10 million in compensation, citing all profits and damages in the following categories attributable to the infringement, including album sales, downloads, digital income, sponsorships and concerts that Drake performed after the release of ‘ Calling My Name’”. The details were released by Rolling Stone magazine.
