Following the release of ‘Midnights’, Taylor Swift on Tuesday released the video for ‘Bejeweled’, which features cameos from actress Laura Dern, the Haim sisters and more. Taylor was responsible for writing and directing the clip.

Ahead of the release, Swift posted a special message to fans on her Instagram. “Midnight, what a storied and fabled hour… On this sparkling evening I’ll be releasing my twist on a fairytale we all know. The one about the girl and her stepsisters and the clock striking 12… This video is wild, whimsical and created SPECIFICALLY for you, my beloved fans who have paved this shimmering path. Look out for some dazzling cameos! Join us later for a very Bejeweled premiere”, Taylor wrote.

In the clip, Taylor lives a different version of Cinderella. Laura Dern plays the evil stepmother, while Alana, Danielle and Este Haim play the jealous stepsisters. In addition to Dita Von Teese as the Fairy Godmother, musician Jack Antonoff as the prince, who is also in the production of the new album. Pat McGrath, one of the most famous makeup artists in the world, also makes a cameo.
As in the tale, the video’s narrative revolves around a lavish ball in which a lucky one will be chosen by the prince. But in the story, the ladies will have to participate in a talent competition. Taylor transforms amidst lots of glitter, jewels and magic and puts on a killer performance that leaves the entire family in disbelief. But when the prince asks her to marry him, she takes an unexpected turn. Watch the video for ‘Bejeweled’ below:
